Beijing Day 1!

Dad Eating Beef and Noodles at Hefu Noodles!

Yesterday, we took a long (but very comfortable) plane ride to Tokyo where we have our 11 hour layover. We stayed in what you can imagine is a small Japanese hotel. (Everything was short and “Ellie Sized” I loved it!!) the whole fam put on the provided loungewear. After a short night’s sleep in Tokyo and missing Father’s Day from the time jump (sorry Dad!), we had a great breakfast at our hotel in Tokyo! Then a hop skip and a 4 hour plane ride later, we land in Beijing! We’ve explored a little around our hotel, finding MASSIVE stores and malls holding stores and shops like unique bakeries, to noodle shops, to Lego stores, to a 3-floor Apple Store.

While the plane was landing earlier today, I looked out the window and saw China and its winding rivers, slithering through the landscape like a snake or an eel. I didn’t catch a photo, but it was really beautiful and I can’t help but wonder what it all looked like before modern infrastructure took over.

This trip is off to a great start. We’re spending 5 nights here in Beijing, so we’ll be exploring shops, the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, and more!
